Our 10th Annual Young Musicians Concert featured talented young artists from across the Peninsula. (C) J CastagnaYoung MusiciansWe welcome auditions by residents of Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties who are 19 years of age or younger as of July 7, 2013. The auditions are open to vocalists, instrumentalists, and small ensembles. Repertoire should be chosen from the Baroque era (written approx. 1600-1750). Transcriptions of Baroque works for modern instruments are permitted. Full repertoire and audition requirements can be found in the applications materials below. Auditions are by appointment only. Application deadline: received in the Carmel Bach Festival office April 1, 2013 Auditions dates: Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14, 2013 Youth ChorusYouth Chorus Audition dates: Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5, 2013. Location: First Presbyterian Church (501 Eldorado Street, Monterey) Requirements: High school students from Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties are encouraged to audition. Students shall be expected to: · sing an aria or art song of their choosing · sing a major scale and chromatic scale on any syllable they choose · sing major and minor triads · sing a tonal memory exercise and a short sight-reading sample Call the Bach Festival office at (831) 624-1521 to schedule an audition.
Virginia Best Adams Vocal Master ClassFour participants are chosen each year and will take part in a 4-week series of classes and performance with the Carmel Bach Festival, including master classes, private sessions, and career mentoring from highly distinguished artist/teachers with decades of experience in Baroque opera and concert rep.
