Set amidst the stunning architectural and natural landscapes of Carmel, California, the Carmel Bach Festival is a world-renowned, 15-day celebration of music and ideas inspired by the historical and ongoing influence of Johann Sebastian Bach in the world. Led by Music Director/Conductor Paul Goodwin and Executive Director Debbie Chinn, the Carmel Bach Festival’s rich summer schedule features full orchestral and choral works, individual vocal and chamber ensemble concerts, recitals, master classes, lectures and informal talks, in addition to interactive social and family events. Now in its 75th year, the Carmel Bach Festival has a vibrant twenty-five member board, a dynamic staff, and a stimulating work environment. Its annual operating budget is $2M.

Event Support Job Description

The Carmel Bach Festival is seeking seasonal help to support the Festival’s staff in setting up events and receptions taking place in the month of July. Events will take place in venues comprising Carmel, Pebble Beach, Carmel Valley, and Monterey. This is a position by shift (3-5 hours each) with varying hours per week according to the number of events; most shifts are in the evening hours. 

We are looking for people with the following qualities:

  • Ability to drive a 9-foot cargo van for transport of event equipment /wine & food
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds (cases of wine/bags of ice, folding tables, etc.)
  • Set up 6’ long event tables and event supplies, serve wine (must be over 21 years of age), set up reception food, handle all clean-up tasks
  • Must have a valid driver’s license & clean driving record (own car or ride to come to Carmel)
  • Must have a social security card
  • Outgoing, engaging personality very welcome; a friendly demeanor is expected (will communicate with Board members, donors, patrons, staff, etc.)
  • Excellent hosting skills and manners, can-do attitude for any task or opportunity
  • Proactive, fast-working, organized, dependable
  • Flexible schedule to be available for evenings, including weekends
  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation:

  • Compensation will be a flat rate of $50.00 for each event shift (not to exceed five hours) upon completion of a weekly time card
